Since We’re Friends by Celeste Shally

Since We’re Friends is the
story of two boys – one
of whom is a student with
autism. Their relationship
and the authentic ways they
make their friendship work
will help children better
understand differences
in the way we react to
situations.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What are some things
the boys do to have fun
    together? Are those
    things you like to do?
  2. How does Matt’s friend help him when he gets upset?
  3. How could you help a classmate who becomes upset about something
    at school?

Activity:

  1. Draw a picture of one way you could help Matt that is not mentioned in
    the book.
  2. Make a list of other things you could do at recess.
