What is inclusive student leadership?

Inclusive Student Leadership is an all-embracing leadership club for every student. They gather to create social opportunities and lead their schools in the advancement of inclusion.

Unified Clubs

Unified Clubs combines students with and without intellectual disabilities to develop meaningful relationships, held spread acceptance, and ensure everyone feels included and welcome in their school. Any student can participate in this unique-school based club designed around empowering students to promote social justice!

Grow your Unified Club

Special Olympics Kansas’s marketing department will create a custom Unified logo for your school. To request your customized logo, please email piercec@soks.org. Due to Special Olympics brand standards, we are unable to change colors or add graphics to the logo.

Unified Young Readers Club

Unified Young Readers brings together students with and without disabilities to read and explore books that emphasizes diversity. Each book has a theme that relates to multiple state academic standards, and aligns with the precepts of positive school climate initiatives like PBIS and Leader in Me.

Inclusion Library

The Inclusion Library is a hub for books for all ages about disability inclusion and awareness. Please peruse the virtual shelves, use our discussion prompts and suggested activities in your classes! Schools can use their Amazon Bookshelf Vouchers to purchase books.

Breakfast or Lunch Buddies

Breakfast or Lunch Buddies is a structured breakfast or lunch setting in which students with and without disabilities sit, eat, and socialize together. Guided by activities, the conversations help create an environment of inclusion, awareness, and friendships.

Special Olympics Kansas hosts inclusive leadership summits. These day long events are open to middle and high school aged students with and without disabilities.

When: Thursday, November 7 9am – 1pm Lunch will be provided
Where: Mazuma Credit Union – Overland Park 7260 W 135th St, Overland Park, KS 66223, USA
Who: Each school is invited to bring a school liaison/representative and one unified pair. A unified pair is an athlete (individual with an intellectual disability) and a unified partner (individual without an intellectual disability).
Registration deadline is October 25!

Special olympics north america golf tournament
youth leadership experience

10 Kansas high schools from across the state will have the chance to help plan and lead portions of the Special Olympics North America National Golf Championship featuring athletes from all over the nation. Students will receive leadership development, attend social events, and be a part of planning for the tournament. Hotels and meals will be funded by SOKS.


Who: High School Unified Pair and an adult leader. Note: Unified pair must be same sex because they will be sharing a hotel room
When: October 26-29
